Film That Ignited Rage in Middle East

Steven LeBlanc

America’s first official response to the assault on its embassy in Cairo came in the form of a Twitter feed from the embassy apologizing to Muslims for the film…

First there was the murderous attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, and as I write we are witnessing a mob assault on the US Embassy in Cairo, also attacks on US embassies in Yemen and Tunis, and Muslim protests in Australia. Clearly the list of Islamic unrest, attacks and protest against America is increasing.

The Film that apparently unleashed this Islamic storm of rage was actually released about a year ago, but it received little notice until last month when a Salafi television station in Egypt broadcast it. The Egyptian broadcasters understood exactly what they were doing when they drew attention to the film—the broadcasters screened the film to incite Islamic rage against American embassies in the Middle East.

Angry Islamic leaders were looking for a pretext to incite violence against America. Had they not discovered this film—they would have found another source of “anger” to use against the United States.

The acts of rage across the Middle East were not random—much of what we are seeing were premeditated. The day before the attack in Egypt, al-Qaida released a video of Ayman al-Zawahiri in which he called for warriors of Islam to attack the US in retribution for the killing – in June – of his second in command Abu Al Yahya al-Libi by a US drone in Pakistan.

And now I see that the Times of Israel is reporting–The headquarters of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in the Sinai was attacked on Friday night by dozens of Bedouin Salafi gunmen, Israel’s Channel 2 News reported.

The way of Islam is one of hostility, anger and war…the prophecy of Genesis 16 continues to play out: “You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard your misery, He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers”.—verses 11-12.

I will be posting a more in-depth blog on the Middle East later this weekend.
